We are moving forward with our goal to improve the Park!
Along with the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay and the Garden Club of the Back Bay, the Charlesgate Alliance successfully secured support from the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to plant 24 new trees adjacent to the Charlesgate Park (between 405 and 459 Marlborough Street). The trees will be planted in Spring 2018. They will need some tender loving care, so please let us know if you are interested in helping water them. It is a once a week commitment.
On Tuesday, May 16 the Charlesgate Alliance submitted an application for funding from the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) Fenway Park Demonstration Project. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful this time around (the meeting BPDA board meeting notes are here). Congratulations to Artists For Humanity, Interseminarian-Project Place and the Fenway Civic Association for their awards!
We plan to submit a new application during the next funding cycle and hope the BPDA will continue to support our endeavor to beautify and improve the Charlesgate Park. Thanks to our local legislators and to the DCR who supported our application and if you know about other funding opportunities, please do not hesitate to let us know!
